In 1973 Blumer and katz came developed 'The uses and Gratification Theory ' argued audience consume media text for one or more of the four reasons.



What is News?

News = Facts / Information 

But
Because the 'News' you see on TV, online + in newspapers it allows a product that has to sell to a target audience it can also be entertaining + this may just distract from facts.


What is Fake News?

Fake news can be based on a true idea, or half-truths, but ultimately it is fake / untrue and has been released to influence opinion or annoying people.
