In the scene the man lights a lamp because of the blackouts, they not turn on any lights because there is a night time raid the bombers can see the lights which are targets, this shows that the man was paranoid of the lights turning off in case of raid. 

- In the 1960s there was a big gender division, men typically went to work and make the money sniff the women would stay at home and do all the cooking and cleaning or looking after the kids.

 The media language is used in the extract to portray gender and sexuality in the 1960s, for example the opening starts of as a cut away close up of the the door bell. As it gets rang however Steed doesn't use his finger he considers himself as more of a 'Jack the lad'. By this i imply that he's very expressive and confident. Another point is that the first angle of Steed shows the male dominance of the low camera angle, this shows that he is above all and all females look up to them.

Harvey Weinstein case
